The claim that “if God isn't real, murder isn't wrong and you just don't like it” is a false dilemma. Secular ethical theories such as utilitarianism, deontology, and contractualism provide structured reasons for considering murder wrong without depending on religion. The existence of God can provide one foundation for objective morality, but saying that morality cannot exist without God requires an argument of its own. Simply removing God does not logically turn “murder is wrong” into “I personally dislike murder.”
