@calmmoneycoach: THE HARD CONVERSATION The same money fight for 10 years Someone in my community asked how you actually have the hard money conversation with your partner. Here's a couple who've had the same money fight for 10 years. Takeout, hockey fees, a very expensive air fryer, and why there's nothing in savings. He's the saver. His dad got laid off when he was 12, and he still remembers the empty fridge. She's the spender. Her mom worked her whole life and never got to enjoy it. When they finally sat down, they wanted the same things for the family. What neither of them knew was what retirement would take. They ran it in my free Lifetime Wealth Calculator. To spend about $70,000 a year in today's dollars, they need about $900,000 saved by 65. From where they are, that's about $2,000 a month. That doesn't fit with daycare and a line of credit. So they started at $500 a month and agreed to raise it every time something ends. Staying small for 5 years means the catch-up later is about $2,600 a month. They know that, and they chose it together. What would be on your family's list? The Lifetime Wealth Calculator is free at calmmoneycoach.com, and the guide is in my community. Illustrative couple, figures in today's dollars, CPP and OAS at about average.

Do ya remember Til Debt Do Us Part? Great show-talked a lot about how relationships are impacted by money. Good points on starting the conversation.
