Don’t get me wrong, we ate GOOD at our meals (separate post to come👀), but you burn a LOT of energy hiking at altitude, so I always recommend bringing snacks you know you love for extra fuel—especially when your appetite can take a hit at higher altitudes. Here are some of my other main takeaways for fueling on Kili: - Carbs = energy to fuel sustained hiking ⚡️ - Protein = muscle repair & recovery 💪 - Tart cherry juice = recovery support 💤 - Chia seeds = fiber, healthy fats, & digestion support 🌱 - Electrolytes = hydration support on higher sweat/longer days. I bring electrolytes in my water bottle + plain water in my water bladder (*definitetly bring a water bladder, not just bottles!!*)💧 *Pro tip: Save your favorite snacks for summit night, when your appetite will likely be the worst! I always bring extra to share with clients, guides, porters, etc. because of my role as trip host, so you definitely don’t need to bring as much as me—but it never hurts to be overprepared!
