Just a gentle reminder not to encourage or promote keeping Aldabra giant tortoises as exotic pets. 🐢 Aldabra tortoises are wild animals and naturally belong in the Seychelles, where they can live freely in their natural environment. Unfortunately, there is an illegal trade in wild Aldabra tortoises, with some being removed from the Seychelles and kept in private collections or small enclosures overseas. I’m absolutely not suggesting that this is the case with this particular tortoise or making any assumptions about its history. I just think it’s important that we’re mindful of the message we send when sharing content like this, and avoid unintentionally normalising the idea of wild Aldabra tortoises as pets when they have a natural home here in Seychelles 🇸🇨
