Goodbye Horses is one of the greatest songs of all time. I hate that she never got the career and music catalogue that she deserved!

…Tina Turner is also a Black woman in rock. What do they mean they couldn’t market her?

Fun fact from an old person: this song wasn’t on the silence of the lambs soundtrack. The only way to find it was to buy the married to the mob soundtrack. Eventually we could stream everything, but the hoops I had to hoop to get this song in the 90’s was insane

She was in the movie Philadelphia. She sang the song "Heaven" during the Halloween party dance scene. I had no idea it was the same singer!

There were blk people singing rock in the 80’s! It was her androgynous look and sound. She was very unique! A bit too unique for that era sadly.

She also had a small part in the movie Philadelphia. She sings a beautiful song at Tom Hanks' Costume party.

I wouldn’t say she just disappeared, like promptly after Silence of the Lambs. The scene with Ted Levine is just so shocking it stands out in people’s memories. She was on screen performing one of her songs in the movie Philadelphia a couple of years later. Though her life did start going downhill after that I believe. Screenshot from the relevant scene:

What a brilliant, radiant soul. ✨ It’s heartbreaking that this happened to her. ❤️And honestly? I’m tired of watching Black artists get erased, sidelined, or treated like footnotes in the history they helped create. Rock music does not exist without Black music. Robert Johnson influenced Led Zeppelin. Little Richard influenced David Bowie. The list goes on and on. Black artists didn’t just “contribute” to rock - they helped build its foundation. And yet, time and time again, the credit gets repackaged, sanitized, and handed to someone else. So if you’re Black and reading this: keep creating. Keep singing. Keep playing. Keep blessing the world with your music. Rock, jazz, soul, R&B, gospel, hip-hop - whatever comes through you. 🎶❤️And yes, David Bowie spoke openly about this very issue in interviews. We should be honest about where this music came from and who helped shape it. Give people their flowers while they’re here. And give history its truth. 🌹

Tina Turner wanted to sing rock ‘n’ roll too. After her divorce, she was finally free to do what she wanted with her music and maybe because she was already famous, she was able to continue doing what she loved. I don’t understand how they wouldn’t know how to market a black woman who wanted to sing rock ‘n’ roll when Tina Turner was doing it.
