This scene epitomises to me how Chris is such a deeply convoluted character because he can somehow make me feel sorry for him even though he’s a terrible person and that’s why I love to hate him, and vice versa. His victim mindset can be so jarring too, I absolutely loathe him but I also understand why he feels the way he does throughout which is why he’s such a great character. Hearing him say this in hindsight, after finishing the whole show is incredibly frustrating but there’s also something so vulnerable about it too and I can’t help but feel he really means it even if his actions contradict. Chris had at least two or three great opportunities throughout to have his “arc” and he fumbled every clear chance that he had that others simply didn’t.
