@imnathanhopper: Salary or Hourly????? This is how Airline Pilots gets paid! First off I want to start by saying that there's really no amount of money that should make you want to become a pilot without any passion. It takes an incredible amount of time, energy, and commitment to make it in this industry. So you need to have another reason to become a pilot that can be as simple as travel, airplanes, airports, aviation, learning, constant growth, etc. It's also extremely important to truly understand the lifestyle of a pilot, and be okay with it. I spend 4-5 days every single week on the road. Recently, I was home for 6 days in a row, and my family was genuinely shocked. I haven't been home for that long in a row in a while. So you gotta realize that's part of the job, especially as a commuter. But the way that we get paid as Airline Pilots is by the flight hour! There is a minimum amount of hours that we get paid each month no matter how much we fly, as long as we are available on the days that we are supposed to be available! The pay as an airline pilot is great, but don't let it be the sole reason you get involved in flying. Make sure there are other things you like and are passionate about within it. For me it's the travel, push for constant learning, flexible schedule, airports (yes I actually love airports and have since I was a kid), and the community flying comes with. . . . . . #pilot #money #aviation #career #studentpilot
