The fact that people have to tell us to just swallow certain African foods instead of actually savoring them tells me EVERYTHING I need to know. The selling point being “don’t chew it, just get it down” makes it hard for me to separate that from food developed around necessity and survival rather than pleasure. And if you have to convince people not to experience the taste or texture, that kinda says something about the food itself.
