I had a student explaining to me that an ice skating show was scarier than the multiple dance recitals she had done. I was like why is the dance not scary? Her response was its dance, that’s different than ice skating.

I was getting new pointe shoes fitted (maybe 13yrs old) and I got asked what my studio was doing for winter recital. I said dance. When she then specified asking what piece or choreography we were doing I said swan lake. She went “oh that’s fun! What’re you doing in it?” My response? “Dancing!”
