Filipinos, Asians, SEAblings: We all had the same trauma w/ bitter melon. Good thing it was store bought & not from nana’s garden. Homegrown bitter melon is on a different level.

my lola adds salt to the bitter melon then mixes it until the juices from the bitter melon comes out. Then she washes it with water until all the salt is removed. The bitterness from the bitter melon is now mild or gone.
