Go to goodwill and get a cheap old blanket or 2, 3, how many ever it takes and lay them on the blanket then fold the blanket over them. potatoes need it dark, cool, and dry. It seems at any given point you are covering 2 of those 3 alternating.

use paper bags or crates with cardboard tops. they need dark and ventilation. Grandparents did this on farm

My great aunt and uncle had wooden bins with a wire bottom on the wall in their basement and would cover them up with straw or newspaper.
