It begins with the opening takbir, reciting al-Fatihah and another surah, then bowing and prostrating with tranquility, sitting for the two tashahhuds (in the three-unit and four-unit prayers) or for one (in Fajr), and ending with the taslim, following the guidance of the Prophet ﷺ [“Pray as you have seen me pray.”]. Steps for a correct prayer (from the opening takbir to the taslim): Preparation: wudu, covering the awrah, and facing the qibla. Intention: intending the specific prayer in your heart without uttering it. Opening takbir: saying “Allahu Akbar” while raising the hands level with the shoulders. Standing and recitation: reciting Surah al-Fatihah in every rak‘ah, and whatever you can of the Qur’an in the first two rak‘ahs. Bowing (ruku‘): bending and placing the hands on the knees, saying “Subhana Rabbi al-‘Azim” three times with tranquility. Rising from ruku‘: standing upright and saying “Sami‘a Allahu liman hamidah,” then “Rabbana wa laka al-hamd.” Prostration (sujud): prostrating on the seven body parts (the forehead and nose, the two palms, the two knees, and the tips of the feet) with tranquility, and saying “Subhana Rabbi al-A‘la” three times. Sitting between the two prostrations: sitting and saying “Rabb ighfir li.” Tashahhud: reciting the tashahhud in the second sitting (the second rak‘ah) and the final sitting (the last rak‘ah), and reciting the Ibrahimic prayer in the final tashahhud. Taslim: turning to the right and saying “As-salamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullah,” then to the left likewise. Arkan of the prayer (it is not valid without them): Standing for those who are able (in the obligatory prayers). The opening takbir. Reciting al-Fatihah. Bowing (ruku‘). Rising from ruku‘.
