@taylahhjaynee: I thought if I stopped giving discounts, people would stop booking me. They didn’t. For the longest time, I felt like I needed a reason for someone to choose me. $500 off. A little extra thrown in. A “special price” because I really wanted the booking. And every time an enquiry went quiet, my first instinct was to make the offer more appealing. But eventually I realised I was negotiating against myself before anyone had even asked me to. So I stopped. I stopped discounting to fill dates. I stopped panicking when someone said my pricing was out of budget. I stopped treating every enquiry like it had to become a booking. And surprisingly… my business didn’t fall apart. People still booked. Except now, they were booking because they wanted me, not because I had made myself the cheaper option. One of the biggest shifts in my business has been learning that not every enquiry is supposed to convert. Sometimes “you’re out of our budget” doesn’t mean your pricing is wrong. It just means they weren’t your client. Your business can survive hearing no. And sometimes, it actually gets better when you stop being so afraid of it.
