I have Daria on dvd, and they replaced all the music with kind of bland instrumentals. I wish there was some kind of 7 year statute of limitations that would free up the music rights on these shows.

They put season 1 out on dvd to see how well sales would do and if it was worth it but I guess the support wasn’t there because that’s all they did.

Supernatural across 15 seasons used a TON of classic rock songs. On streaming they did swap them out initially but then put them all back in. It must have cost a fortune but really that music is central to the show.

This is why streaming is dangerous, it can wipe out historic shows. The show Hacks covers this and other reasons as to why it’s important to still have physical media, so legends don’t get erased.

I had to stop rewatching Charmed because they swapped out the intro music and a lot of the little music bits in the episodes....it changed the vibe just enough and I didn't like it

I remember old home video releases of Married With Children had the theme song replaced with what I can only describe as something composed by a blind dying clown.

Same thing happened to Daria and Queer As Folk. Daria still works well enough streaming without it (though I treasure my ill-gotten snippets with the original music), but in Queer As Folk, the soundtrack was as much a main character as any of the actual cast, and the musical substitutions they made to stream it were NOT GOOD. It is unwatchable without the o.g. music.
