It’s the credit score requirements that are crazy. Like everywhere else my 650 credit score is fine. 700+ is insane.

It’s because not everyone can afford 40x the rent. Where are you supposed to live ya’know? Although I agree that if you make anything less than 40x then you are definitely overextending yourself

The 40x rule is actually very generous. 40x 2000 rent means you should make 80k. I did this before and I felt like I was at my absolute limit. If you want to max out savings and have vacations you should be making 45-50x the rent in nyc

Youre right about i feel at the end, thats what i meant! If it wasnt used to bar me from getting housing, or it were at least more lenient, id be fine with it, its helpful to *know* im general. but thank you anyways im sure this helped someone!
