My 5th and final labor almost became the worst day of my life… I went into labor at 6:00 AM and didn’t deliver until 9:28 PM. For over 15 hours, my body was going through so much. My heart rate kept dropping, I was having intense heat flashes, throwing up, and feeling completely drained. My mom was in the room with me through it all, but things became so overwhelming that nurses had to step away and tend to her having heat flashes and screaming while they were also caring for me. Then things took a scary turn. The nurses suddenly couldn’t find my baby’s heartbeat with the Doppler. My heart instantly sank. They had to place an internal monitor to track her heart rate, and the entire mood in the room changed. The fear, the uncertainty, and the waiting felt unbearable. As if that wasn’t enough, when it was finally time for me to push, the doctor was NO WHERE in sight for OVER 10 minutes. I was already terrified, and with every contraction getting stronger, I kept wondering where the doctor was and why no one was there yet. Those minutes felt like hours. When the doctor finally arrived, everything started moving fast. 5 pushes later, at 9:28 PM, my baby girl made her entrance into the world. After hours of labor, complications, fear, and uncertainty, hearing that she was finally here was the biggest relief. All I could do was thank God for carrying us through one of the scariest moments of my life. What started as one of the most frightening days of my life ended with the greatest blessing I could have ever received. My baby girl is here, healthy, beautiful, and loved beyond words.
