Down Memory Lane 🔵❤️ A letter from Najjera ✍🏾 Friday, 16th October, 2026 ONE DAY, WE PLAYED TOGETHER FOR THE LAST TIME… AND NOBODY TOLD US. 💔 It was a Friday evening in 1986. We had just completed our Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) at Ibanda Kibubura Integrated Primary School, in Ibanda Municipality, Western Uganda. Before leaving, we gathered on our beloved playground for a game of football, laughing, teasing one another, and enjoying the beautiful simplicity of childhood. We had no idea that it was the last time we would all play together. Nobody told us. There were no farewells, no tears, no promises to keep in touch. We simply walked away, believing that life would give us countless opportunities to meet again. Oh, how innocent we were! Today, as I sit on my couch and revisit that unforgettable afternoon in my memories, tears sometimes roll down my cheeks. I remember the excitement, the laughter, the friendly rivalry, and the beautiful bond we shared as schoolmates and friends. Those were the days when happiness cost little, friendships felt eternal, and life seemed to stretch endlessly before us. Sadly, time has taken its toll. Many of the old boys with whom I shared that memorable football match have passed away. Those still alive are scattered across the globe, some battling health challenges, others enjoying the fruits of their labour. Some have risen to remarkable success, while others have faced life's harshest disappointments. Back then, none of us imagined that life would take such different turns. We never thought that the boys who ran barefoot or chased a ball across that dusty playground would one day grow old, lose one another, or become memories in each other's hearts. Perhaps that is the saddest and most beautiful truth about life: we often fail to recognise our happiest moments until they become memories. The world has changed. Life has become faster, more complicated, and more demanding. Sometimes, I long for those simpler days when a football, a dusty playground, and the company of good friends were enough to make us happy. Yet, amid the tears and nostalgia, my heart is filled with gratitude. Every single day, I thank the Almighty for the precious gift of life—for allowing me to journey this far and to carry these beautiful memories within me. If I could return to that Friday evening in 1986, I would hold my friends a little longer, laugh a little louder, and cherish every passing second. But time does not turn back. We left that playground as boys, never knowing that life was already writing our goodbyes. 💔 #jaqs_chronicles 🔵❤️ #fyp #trending #viral #foryoupage
