Yeah the rule of thumb with Japan is to avoid animal related attractions, ESPECIALLY animal cafes, as they have very, very poor animal welfare laws in general. Same goes for China

Sadly places like these do not care at all abt fish. They are just a money trap. It’s so sad bc fish especially are some of the most neglected and abused pets.

when I was younger around I wanna say 18ish to maybe 22ish I saw this on Tumblr I remember telling myself I wanted to go to it because I assume like you the fish would be ok. I'll be honest I didn't know much about fish and what they needed to survive back then. then forgot about it and eventually sometime this year or last year I saw a guy who's an expert says he went and how he was disappointed and he showed how some tanks did have dead fish. it was heartbreaking and it sucks because it's basically a torture chamber for them

I used to work at a casino. All the flashing and color changing lights and music. It was horrible for just some hours a day. Imagine how these goldfish feel being in that 24/7
