I have never heard of an M1 Abrams being able to use diesel and jet fuel is kerosine… petroleum Gasoline wouldn’t work either.

everything in the military runs on jp8 now so it doesn't need it anymore but it did when it was developed

the modern m1a2 sepv3 has a mpg of 1.67 gallons per mile and can go 42 top speed as its governed but its top speed is 50 to 55mph

Woohoo jet fuel!! Everything in the military runs on this stuff. This is also the reason all of the o rings in the military dry out. JP8 is very dry. But wheeled military vehicles don’t take gasoline and if you do they die.
