Sometimes, we go through seasons of spiritual dryness—when prayer feels difficult, the Rosary feels heavy, Mass feels different, and we no longer feel the same closeness to God. You may pray and feel nothing. You may open the Bible and struggle to understand. But remember: the absence of a feeling does not mean the absence of God. He is still there, even in the silence. Spiritual dryness can teach us to love God not only because of what we feel, but because of who He is. There will be moments when faith means choosing to pray even when you don’t feel like praying, going to Mass even when your heart feels empty, receiving the Eucharist with trust, and continuing to seek Him even when you cannot sense His presence. Sometimes, the deepest faith is simply saying, “Jesus, I don’t feel You right now, but I still choose You.” So don’t be discouraged when your spiritual life feels quiet. Keep showing up. Keep praying the Rosary. Keep going to Mass. Keep going to confession. Spend time in Eucharistic Adoration. Open your heart to God, even if all you can offer Him is your silence and tiredness. You don’t have to come to Him with perfect words or perfect feelings. Come as you are. And remember, dear soul: God has not abandoned you. Perhaps He is inviting you into a deeper kind of love—a love that remains even when the emotions fade. Trust Him in the silence. Trust Him in the waiting. Trust Him when you feel close to Him and when you don’t.
