Early that morning, the Prince received a ceremonial headdress from the Emperor at the Akishino residence. Accompanied by his family, he then traveled to the Imperial Palace to attend a series of significant rituals—including the capping ceremony and the formal audience with the Emperor—and was awarded the Grand Cordon of the Supreme Order of the Chrysanthemum. In the evening, members of the Imperial Family, including the Emperor and Empress as well as the Emperor Emeritus and Empress Emerita, attended a private celebratory banquet held at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. Following the ceremonies, Prince Hisahito expressed his gratitude to the public and stated his resolve to conscientiously shoulder the responsibilities of a royal family member now that he has come of age.
