Channeling my inner @drelisabethpotter on this peer to peer 🥲 I don’t think I have ever had a peer to peer that actually led to an insurance covering treatment. Even though this patient no question needed the treatment that we provided, the insurance company (who has never met my patient) disagrees. Getting claims denied by dental insurance is frustrating for the patient and also the dentist. I don’t recommend anything to my patients that they don’t need, so when I run in to these kind of situations it can be really frustrating. It’s always important to remember that we don’t practice based on what insurance covers, and to remind patients of that as well when we get into one of these situations. . Do any docs have advice on what to say or how to handle these convos to lead to coverage of the treatment?
