A total of approximately 5 to 7.6 million tons of bombs were dropped across Indochina (Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia)—a figure three times greater than the total tonnage dropped during the entirety of World War II. Additionally, between 72 and 80 million liters of herbicidal toxins were sprayed; the majority consisted of Agent Orange, a substance containing dioxin (TCDD)—one of the world's most dangerous toxins—which contaminated the soil and water.
