His name, his love, his presence, and his support were the foundation of my life. He taught me what safety feels like, what respect looks like, and what it means to have someone standing beside you no matter what. And then came the day when I had to sign my Nikah papers and accept another man into that place in my life—not to replace my father, because no one ever could, but to begin a new relationship built on trust, understanding, love, and companionship. I remember looking at those papers and feeling the weight of that moment. It was not just a signature for me. It felt like I was signing a new part of my life away from the life I had always known and stepping into a life I had never lived before. My hands were shaking so much. My heart was overwhelmed.
