Dan was an embodiment of masculinity in the good and the bad. most of these scenes really highlight the negative side of it (the toxic masculinity). I will give props for the one of these that he did violence against someone else he waited for permission from his wife.

People in this generation don’t understand the couples that did things like this often times were extremely close. They did not fear judgment for one another, and if they got angry, they expressed it. This show 💯 was the most realist even to this day of exactly how the average family was. No other show made me feel my childhood like this show. Nothing in their house was perfect, mismatched furniture, stains on the carpet, just a normal family. My childhood home was exactly like this, and I would not trade it for anything.

first one is made up, like it genuinely didnt happen there is context but its spoilers which is painful (context for the fight is he "survived" a massive heart attack and became dejected ) this is what she wished happened instead of the reality
