Even when Donovan was a child, he gave a speech all about how “Human beings are simply liars.” And that so long as people stay liars, war will never end. He even said that he desired peace. But this conflicts with Melinda’s views on Donovan, as she says that he genuinely used to be caring both as a husband and a father, I think I even remember seeing a panel of him helping Demetrius study. So, what happened? It seems like because of his belief, he doesn’t even trust his own family anymore, as Melinda said she feels like she’s being watched. Is Donovan’s mistrust in people so bad to the point that he spies on his own family just to make sure they aren’t hiding anything? I personally think that maybe his family changed him at first. Anyone would naturally trust their family, it’s like an instinct. Maybe he was able to let go of his belief that no one should be trusted. But, something must’ve happened that made him a complete shut out who doesn’t trust anyone, and we know it happened around Damian’s birth. He probably spiraled, as he questioned the motives of everyone around him, even his own family. And it also perfectly lines up with the time that Anya started getting experimented on, which was most likely a result of him being obsessed with the idea of knowing what people think. Anyhow, I really like how he sort of challenges Wise’s philosophy, “Question everything.” When someone starts questioning everything and everyone, it could potentially lead to insanity. Becoming a shut out, not trusting anyone, you get the point. Because if everything is to be questioned, then is there even an answer?
