@myoku8: There are battles in which the soul does not triumph by destroying the beast, but by embracing what it once feared. The lion is the ancient symbol of the untamed self—the instinct, the rage, the hunger, the sovereign force that civilization teaches us to conceal. Yet what we reject within ourselves does not disappear. It descends into the shadow, waiting for the day we possess the courage to meet it without hatred. The figure embraces the lion as though embracing a forgotten fragment of his own being. And perhaps this is the deeper initiation: You cannot become whole by amputating your darkness. You become whole by bringing it into consciousness. The beast within you carries a power that, when unconscious, can devour you; but when understood, becomes courage. What once appeared as chaos becomes instinct. What once appeared as rage becomes fire. What once appeared as weakness becomes the doorway through which the hidden self returns. The mystics called this descent into the shadow. The alchemists might have called it the great work—the transformation of the raw and divided self into something integrated. For the highest form of mastery is not domination. It is union. The man does not stand above the lion. The lion does not kneel before the man. They exist within the same embrace—as two faces of one consciousness.
