@letsjuststartpodcast: Kochie has written an open letter to the RBA governor asking her to stand up to the federal government. He makes the point that household spending in mortgage belt is negative, but govt spending is way above long term average and is driving inflation. Very interesting points. #letsjuststartpodcast #inflation #rba #auspol #reaction @Laura Racky @Christian Cunningham @2kidsfromtheburbs
Does anyone take into consideration the record profits from supermarkets, banks, and energy providers? The RBA claims as consumers we're spending too much but I argue that we're just paying more for the same stuff. We're not buying more, it's just costing us more.

Government spending (as a %GDP) is actually lower under Albo, than the previous Coalition Government.
But if the Government cuts spending, Australia has a recession.
If Australia cuts immigration, Australia has a recession.
If Australia cuts immigration, the tertiary education system collapses.
If the Government spends more, to stimulate growth and jobs, then inflation goes nuts.
Inflation now, is half of what it was under the previous Government, but still a tick higher than comparable nations.
We're not in a bad place, but not a great place. Lots of challenges ahead.

Problem is that that money is worth much less than it used to due to the government printing so much money in the last six years. We are now paying the price of the free money being thrown around back then

I hate AI but would it be a positive tool to audit departments throughout the whole government and department expenses? Holding people accountable and replacing those found to be abusing the system will be hard

Government spending, borrowing and printing is the only reason for inflation, it devalues the currency meaning products cost more meaning everything goes up in real terms

Australia is over 1 trillion dollars in debt. the interest on that is the government's biggest cost/ spend over the last 12 months. the labour government and ridiculous spending is the cause...... us individuals are paying the price. we need a change in government and government spending needs to be dramatically reduced.

Isn't he the rep of insurance comparisons? Did he mention anything about corporate profits? How much has insurance renewals gone up by in the last 4 years? I'm sure he has up to date data on that too..

You do realise that 1:4 people work for the government. Any reduction in government spending would create massive unemployment reaching 20% - that’s why they will never ever ever cut government spending. The economy is done for. Remove red tape in construction and business and promote investment in small businesses.

Very tired of people justifying the government spending on the basis of the prior governments spending or comparing with other poorly performing western countries The environment was totally different, under the previous government. A reactionary, proactive approach is needed to solve current issues. I didnt think it was a race to the bottom

disposable income is lower than it was 20 years ago

the RBA is a private company, that might as well be an LNP think tank. it's outlived it's usefulness
