@officialfuturespaceworld: Divers exploring Turkey's Lake Van have brought fresh attention to a sunken city that has stayed largely unstudied since it was first spotted decades ago. The site sits about 150 miles from Mount Ararat, the mountain long associated with Noah's Ark, and lies roughly 85 feet under the surface. Researcher Matthew LaCroix, part of the current diving team, says the visible ruins may only be a small piece of something far bigger still buried beneath sediment. The submerged complex spans more than half a mile and includes a stone fortress with circular temples showing detailed carved masonry. Most archaeologists trace the structures to the Urartian civilization from about 3000 years ago, though some researchers on the team argue geological clues point to a much older flood event. Stone cannot be carbon-dated, so the team now plans to search for organic material that could finally settle how old the ruins really are. #LakeVan #NoahsArk #UnderwaterCity #Archaeology #AncientMystery
