I no longer wanted to ask for permission to be the mom my kids could find in the crowd at a school event. I didn’t want to keep missing afternoons with them because I had to be glued to the company computer. I didn’t want to keep working so hard only to miss out on living the years I will never get back with them. Turns out, you don’t have to choose between financially being independent and free, and building anlife that feels like yours.
