This is a floating fireplace imported all the way from France, and according to the listing, it’s the first of its kind to be installed locally here in the area. What makes this fireplace so interesting is that it completely changes the way we traditionally think about fireplaces. Instead of being built into a wall or surrounded by stone, this one is suspended from above, creating the illusion that it’s floating in the room. And it’s actually a functioning gas fireplace, not just a decorative piece. The design itself feels more like a sculpture than a traditional fireplace. It’s a great example of how European design can take something as simple as heating a room and turn it into an architectural statement. What’s even more interesting is how the builder, Mirikeen Homes, incorporated it into this new construction home in Kirkland. The fireplace is surrounded by custom steel and wood cabinetry, with a Roman clay accent wall behind it. The entire home takes inspiration from Japanese wabi-sabi and midcentury modern design, and this fireplace fits that aesthetic perfectly. It’s details like this that make touring luxury homes so interesting to me. Sometimes it’s not about how big the house is or how expensive the finishes are. It’s about finding something you’ve genuinely never seen before. I’ve toured hundreds of luxury homes throughout Washington, and this is definitely one of the most unique fireplaces I’ve come across. Thank you Max for allowing us to tour your listing and showcase it to my audience.
