Chronically ill people know exactly what works for them and we are blown off and treated like garbage//addicts.

Added to the list:
1.Dont ask for meds by name (how dare you know what meds you need)
2. Dont be too hysterical (screaming in pain or thrashing is automatically faking)
3. Dont distract yourself by being on your phone (being on the phone is an automatic youre fine)
4. Never say you have anxiety (cuz boom youll automatically get dimissed)
5. Dont be too smart about medical anything or youll be accused of "googling" and being a hypochondriac just making up things in your search for drugs

when you have chronic pain, you know what works for you, and that shouldn't raise eyebrows, but it does.

I'll never forget going to the ER for severe pain. Dr treated me like an addict, even told me "Well, I GUESS we can order a UA but go ahead and get ready to be discharged bc I'm sure it'll come back clear." He came back with his tail between his legs and a vial of dilaudid and said "You have a massive kidney infection and UTI. I'm sorry"

No EMS crew should take a pt to the ER in that type of pain without administering pain medication. inhumane [Teary eyed][Innocent]

I been here before. They gave me nausea meds, that caused my heart rate to go to 220bpm and they had to shock my heart through Iv. I couldn’t even talk let alone breathe right. At first they told me “you’re fine, go sit down” and when I sat down, I fainted 😩

everyone in the comments saying “don’t be biased” but our job in healthcare is to screen everyone. Our duty is to treat and heal but we also deal with people who drug seek so we just become cautious when meds are mentioned by name. Anything racial/ gender bias obv is not okay.

With years of chronic pain you usually learn what works for you. It’s not strange at all to ask for specific meds

Watched other parts. She had a clot in her artery caused by a surgery she had years ago. Went in for ER surgery to remove the clot. Doc said she had a 50/50 chance. Episode ended

No because why does "ive experienced this before and know what has helped me in the past and what has failed" get me flagged for drug seeking
I have a hole in my oesophagus and it causes constant reflux and a condition called chronic gastritis which when bot properly medicated basically means non-stop throwing up until my entire stomach lining, oesophagus, and intestinal tract become inflamed and swollen from the acidity and the forceful vomitting threatens to worsen the hole or even create another one. I know when I have gastritis because the pain is intense and specific as are the other symptoms like the vomitting and I know for a FACT I will vomit everything they give me until about an hour after they've given me odansetron (I know it should take effect quicker but I have EDS and it makes me metabolise a lot kf medicines in strange ways) so I know if they want me to stop screaming in pain from gastritis the only thing that will work is a combo of fentanyl and endone given through an IV and not orally because i will throw it up immediately if given by mouth
they never believe me
they insist on getting me to swallow the endone "to see if it will work" and then i throw it up and i tell them i threw it up and they say "your body likely had time to absorb it before you threw up" and refuse to believe me when I say "no look in my vomit bag the pill came up whole there's no way I absorbed that medication when the whole pill just got vomitted into a plastic bag but they NEVER believe all this time whilst im screaming and writhing in pain just to be told "i'll come back shortly and check on you when that endone kicks in" and it never kicks in and the pain just keeps getting worse and then im the crazy one for begging for IV pain relief when by the time i reach hospital ive already been sick for hours and then there's normally hours wait to be seen hours wait for the doctor another hours wait for meds another hour waiting for the meds that I know i threw up to "kick in" before they finally realise the pain and vomitting arent changing AT ALL and you know what the doctor always orders at that point? IV fentanyl and IV endone 💀
it has happened to me 3 times
