@yetigraves: The superintendent’s real “secrets” to finishing on time? Its not a carefully balanced combination of deception, manipulation, and whatever other dark arts the superintendent has picked up over 30 years. (Well… maybe a little of that. 😂) The supers who consistently finish jobs strong usually do a few things really well: They live in the look-ahead, not just today’s problems. They know what needs to happen 3, 6 and 12 weeks from now and start clearing those roadblocks early. They stay on top of procurement. Long-lead material doesn’t magically show up because the schedule says “install.” They coordinate the trades before everyone is standing in the same hallway arguing about who goes first. And they constantly communicating. Subs know what’s expected, PMs know what’s needed, and problems get surfaced while there’s still time to fix them. The best superintendents are good at both putting out fires and making sure the fires never starts. What’s the biggest nonobvious thing you’ve seen a superintendent do to keep a project on schedule?
