yep wife is right. you're choosing your job over your baby I'm pretty sure she's probably not going to forgive you because you should have said sorry to your work I just cannot do that my wife is due anytime

Definitely need to start looking for a new job. The fact that your boss would put a meeting over you being able to be there while your child was being brought into the world is unacceptable and shows a level of inconsideration that is completely disgraceful. Especially since he threatened your financial stability over it instead of finding a way to make it work. No good boss would make you choose between your family and your job.

should have skipped the boss gone to hr and applied for the FMLA!! You could have at least gotten a week or two off from work and the boss couldn't retaliate without any legal repercussions. just future advice for any new parent or awaiting the arrival. always and I do mean always apply for the fmla. (this is American. not sure for outside of the states.)

Je me demande toujours quand je suis coincée entre le travail, le conjoint ou la famille, "qu'arriverait-il si j'étais malade au point de ne pas pouvoir me déplacer"???? Le patron, il ferait quoi? La femme accoucherait quand même?... arrêtez de vous torturer, elle avait accepté le compromis et malheureusement le bébé est arrivé... plutôt que de colérer et de bouder, profiter de ce bébé parce qu'un enfant ne change jamais aussi vite que dans ses premiers moments, chaque semaine est différente et ces moments ne reviennent pas. Ce travail, vous en avez besoin pour faire vivre votre famille... vous ne pouvez pas changer le passé ni revenir en arrière. Faudrait que ta femme en revienne et regarde en avant parce que les bébés sentent la tension!

Anyone else think that this is the bosses fault for not just giving him the time off? Obviously the stand in did just fine with the little bit of time OP had to prepare them, so if they had started working on that from the beginning, there would have been no problem
