Napoleon Bonaparte= the most famous French general + emperor in world history, lived 1769–1821. Imagine a short, insanely ambitious, war genius who, from the son of a commoner, rose to rule almost all of Europe in 15 years. Key points about him: 1. Military genius Won over 60 of the 70 battles he led. His tactics are still studied in military academies today. He was nicknamed "The Corsican" because he was born on the island of Corsica. 2. Rising to Emperor of the French Initially just a general during the French Revolution, in 1804 he declared himself Emperor Napoleon I. At the age of 35, he already ruled France. 3. Conqueror of Europe At the peak of his power in 1812, he controlled: France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Poland, etc. Almost all of Europe submitted except England and Russia. 4. Civil Legacy Besides war, he created the "Napoleonic Code" – a legal system that remains the basis of many countries' laws to this day, including Indonesia through Dutch law. He also built schools, a central bank, and infrastructure. 5. The Fall In 1812, he invaded Russia, but failed miserably. His troops died of cold and starvation. In 1814, he was defeated and exiled to the island of Elba. He escaped, regained power for 100 days, then lost again at Waterloo in 1815. He was exiled again to Saint Helena, and died there in 1821. #military #militaryaviation #napoleonbonaparte #History
