I actually have a theory that Dr Ratio isn't gazed upon by Nous because his ideals ally more with Lan. He's not chasing the knowledge for the sake of knowing more and discovering beyond what's already known — he strives to eradicate stupidity. He can spend years not doing any new researches himself if it means that he'd get to raise a handful of students to the level where they have been "cured from ignorance". That's not Erudition. That's Hunt that have chosen "lack of knowledge" as its prey and is now chasing it with single-minded focus like Xianzhou chase Abominations of Abundance and Galactic Rangers — the corrupt/evil. (but, again, that's purely my opinion)

what I like and admire most about ratio is his resilience. I deeply admire his ability to get back up and continue to uphold his values of wanting to spread knowledge and I think that's one of his most important traits of his character. even if he was never recognized by nous he still chose to walk the path of knowledge and reason for the sake of others and his own intention of "curing ignorance" so people are able to get back up with the usage of independence, and resilience just like he did.
