The thicker end is meant to be installed last, that’s why it’s thicker so you can grip it and pull it over onto the pipe. Other than installing it in reverse you did well

Coupler to slip fix first. Cut, Deburr, chamfer, primer until sticky, glue, rotate a quarter and hold until it sticks. Remove excess

So this is a temporary fix, it will leak soon enough. Sorry but I’ve been to so many calls and that fitting was leaking. It’s a easy temp fix for a handy man but nobody can call themselves a plumber using these

Why not just use two regular couplers and dig back a little bit? There’s no way that sliding union won’t fail eventually. Two couplers is as good as a full piece of pipe.

Watched a video of a landscaper bearing irrigation pipe no tracer wire no caution tape and says it’s OK to do it that way now. If you would’ve hit the caution tape, could that have been prevented?

Make sure you install the slip fix the right way as the water is flowing so it doesn’t retract on you

Also for those who dont know, they can only go on one way... There is an arrow for the direction or flow of water

As an actual professional, repair couplings are for a homeowner or a temporary repair. Plumbers don’t use these and would never call this a repair like a pro
