Five men were arrested overnight after police received a call about three suspicious vehicles heading toward the base around 12:45 a.m. They were first arrested under the Explosives Act, then further arrested on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act. Around 85 households in the nearby village of Whelford were evacuated to a leisure center as a precaution, while the Army’s bomb disposal team examined the three vehicles.
