@founding.mena: Saudi Arabia already had the properties. What it didn’t have was an easy way to book them. Chalets, farms and private homes were widely available, but much of the market still ran through phone calls and personal contacts. Latifah Altamimi and Eman Alsuwailem saw an opportunity to bring that fragmented market online. They launched Gathern in 2017. Three years later, it became Saudi Arabia’s first licensed peer-to-peer rental platform. Today, Gathern has more than 72,000 listed units, 5 million registered users and a valuation of over $266 million. A Saudi startup built around a local behaviour that was hiding in plain sight. #gathern #saudiarabia #femalefounder #airbnb #foundingmena
