This is also why the way calculus is taught is a failure for most students. Functions are simply mathematical descriptions of shapes- a horizontal line, a sloped line, a curve, a wiggle, & the space beneath them or the direction at a particular point. Every shape you can imagine can be described by combining those lines- the more complex the shape, the more complex the combination. That thinking should be taught FIRST, with pre-algebra as soon as variables are introduced

when i'm in high school i think trigonometry is something that make no sense so i'm not taking it seriusly until i take science major exspecially in math and physics where trigonometry is really mentioned...school really should reconsider what think they are teaching...

In 1976 I was 19 and interviewed for an engineering job. The management laughed at me bcuz I worked at a fast food place and had no college. They liked my confidence. After hired I did many calculations reconstructing all the formulas JUST LIKE THIS POST.

Most math teaching have been primarily teaching at the procedural level , but you need to understand the theories and the rules that dictate how you should think about the problem so you don’t need to memorize it

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS. I was in 2nd year undergrad when I realised Pythagoras and Eulers identity can be a great mnemonic to remember many formulas. But your version is grounded in the underlying geometry 👍👍
