🚨 HOTEL BOOKING SCAM WARNING — PLEASE BE AWARE! 🚨 I want to share my recent experience so others can be extra careful. I booked accommodation at Premium Woodsbury Suites through Agoda for my staff, as we have an event at Penang Mega Mall from 16th–20th September. After making the booking, I received a WhatsApp message asking me to transfer RM728 + RM100 refundable deposit to a QR code, stating that the check-in details would be provided after payment. I made the payment and sent the payment slip as requested. Unfortunately, after that, there was no further response, and I was unable to contact the person. I immediately contacted Agoda, and they informed me that they were also unable to contact the property and that an investigation would take 24–48 hours. As I believe I may have been cheated, I have made a police report and am currently following up with the relevant parties. ⚠️ PLEASE BE CAREFUL! Even when you make a booking through a legitimate booking platform, always verify any request for additional payment directly through the platform before transferring money to a personal account, QR code or unknown payment channel. I am sharing this purely as a public awareness warning so that other travellers and event organisers do not face the same situation. 📌 For awareness and follow-up: @Agoda @PDRMsia Please stay alert, verify before you pay, and keep all screenshots, WhatsApp messages, payment slips and booking details. Stay safe, everyone. 🙏 #HotelScam #BookingScam #TravelScam #AccommodationScam #OnlineScam
