Rin just needs to remember his initial awaken. He talked about unbinding himself from anything and everything, focusing on just killing and devouring, as The Reverse of Sae Itoshi. But after Isagi “stole” what could have been the approval from Sae, everything that was left for Rin was a realisation: Isagi would be Rin’s Next and Only Opponent until his rematch with Sae. Without being aware of it, Isagi poisoned Rin. This did help him for a while, since Rin’s Ego reaches its peak when he’s playing with his life on the line. But now it is too much to ignore.
