As for what many of you wrote in the comments about ladders being pushed away, set on fire, or soldiers being covered in boiling water, I’ve thought about that too. It all sounds very realistic, but I’m afraid it could have a negative effect on gameplay. Ladders are already not the safest way to storm walls, and the attacking army will suffer heavy losses when using them. If I add everything mentioned above, ladders could end up being almost useless.
