My daughter is in the second grade. A boy twisted her arm backwards and nearly broke it. A classmates mom called me later that night and said her own son told her what happened. And then he got in trouble because he didn’t step in or stop it or help my daughter. I wish all mamas raised their boys that way.

I cried for 3 days when I found out I was having a boy because I was scared he would hurt women when he got older. Then I realized it’s up to me to teach him and I probably would have been crying more if it was girl because the fear of her getting hurt and not being able to defend herself would have been worse.

Yes! 👏 I only have a daughter, and I am so grateful for the women who are teaching their sons not to SA but also not to be an enabler. Thank you. 🙏🏻

It literally makes me sick. This is how I want my boys to be, but like how do we make sure 😭 because I guarantee the parents of the FIFTY SEVEN boys, some of them think they raised their boys to intervene too. It’s terrifying.

I pray that my sons are never even IN a group chat that would do that. But you're absolutely right that it's disgusting that NOT A SINGLE ONE stood up for the right thing.

Don’t forget teaching manners and inclusion. If dad is fixing something outside, you send him to watch. You do not give him anything with out “please and thank you”. If he’s at a friends house remember “yes ma’am, no sir”.

I have a 9 month old boy. The amount of fear that came across me when I read this. These men need to change. Boys will be boys is not a saying that will be said in this house.

THIS 👏 I am raising boys who will, Lord willing, be men who PROTECT women whatever it takes!!! They will NOT be bystanders if I can help it! I even showed my little brother how to observe and step in when I saw a man interrupting a girl’s workout at our gym & she was visibly uncomfortable— we help, we don’t just let things happen!

I called an old friend of mine and the second he answered and heard the way I was crying and stutttering he was already running to find his supervisor at work. Didn’t matter what happened to me, if I was crying like that then it was bad and he knew. He was the reason I could breathe and think through the panic, the sound of his heavy footsteps carrying through the phone that got me off the floor. Your boy will be a man like him and you can count on it as long as you’re his mom!

We’ve been teaching our 4 year old consent through play his whole life, but there’s so much more to it and we’ve been incorporating conversations about how to stand up for others and I can say I take the responsibility of raining my son to be safe for the girls, gays, and theys beyond seriously.

Hey, I want to say I love the overall message of this and think it is important. A couple things to mention though… It is good to teach young men to call the police in a situation like this, however telling the group chat they are going to do so is a major safety risk. Men are at higher risk of non sexual violent crimes at the hands of other men. A man doesn’t need to call out the behavior or say they are going to call the cops, they should simply just do it. Additionally, encouraging a young man to show up to the scene of a crime after calling the police to “take care of things” with a baseball bat is horrible advice and would literally ruin their life. Under law, a baseball bat is considered a deadly weapon and although a crime is being committed, it would not be considered self defense or defense of others. It would make them an active participant in a violent altercation. This would also make the whole situation more dangerous for the victim and the person trying to help because it would higher the likelihood of escalating to lethal force. I know your heart is in the right place with this video, and I’ve seen a lot of others like it. Maybe it’s not meant to be that serious, but it’s worth mentioning. We need to teach our sons how to stand up SAFELY and without violence. Remember, the normalization of violence is ultimately what got us here in the first place.

Little boys are so innocent until they’re exposed to the outside world. I’m gonna do everything I can to teach my son respect, boundaries, and compassion before his peers and the darkness on the internet can ruin him. And if I find out he ever sat back and watched something like this happen or god forbid participated? I won’t have a son anymore.

I had this convo with my bf this morning. If our son (or daughter) ever did anything to hurt someone or stayed quiet about it then we would give all his inheritance to the victim.
