One of the first exercises I was given when I joined the programme was to identify the values that would guide my business. Mine were: Loyalty. Respect. Authenticity. Integrity. I was told to keep them visible and use them to guide my business decisions. And I did. The problem came when particular methods I was being encouraged to use didn't align with those values. I raised my concerns. I expected personalised business coaching to offer an alternative strategy that could still produce commercial results without requiring me to compromise the values I'd been told to build my business around. In my experience, that alternative never came. Instead, the conversation repeatedly returned to whether I was implementing the model consistently enough. And that's why this original exercise matters to me now. These aren't values I've created two years later to justify why I challenged certain methods. They were documented at the beginning because the programme itself instructed me to identify them and use them to make business decisions. So my question is simple: If a business model only works when the client follows a prescribed method that conflicts with the values she was told to build her business around, shouldn't the strategy adapt?
