7 months in a cage?!? Are you serious? Our five month old puppy has only been in a crate for car rides. Other than that no crate.

We’ve never needed cages for our labs but genuinely curious was it for behaviour issues or something?

I know you’ve probably done your research and don’t want to overstep but I recommend (especially if bagel likes going into his crate) to keep it set up as often dogs enjoy having a lil space that’s like their own! Either way, your life 🤷♀️😂 do what ya wanna do yanno :) x

I'm too European for this.
Our dogs are always free indoors and have their own beds where they can be alone but they can also be on the sofas. No problem.

Mine never was in a crate, we teached him to control his emotions by rewarding Call behavior. 2 really hard weeks and he was able to settle on his own. Never had any issues again… maybe I’m to German for the pit him in a cage and force him stuff…

My chocolate lab will be 7 months and I can’t leave him unsupervised or the house will be destroyed.

Take this or leave it, but you've obviously done a great job crate training if he was settled sleeping there until 7 months ..I recommend keeping the crate as a sleeping option as it makes it way easier to travel with a dog if they sleep in a crate- my dogs will sleep in anyone's houses as long as they have their crates!

The crate has become a safe space for mine. She still comes to me. But if there is thunder, fireworks or if I’m doing the hoovering she’ll go in her crate because she feels safe. You’ve done all that hard work creating that space for them, don’t get rid of it now

We’ve tried our 10 month old Jack Russell puppy in our room now instead of his crate and he ends up waking me up at 4am (every time) to go down to his own bed 😂

My 3 year old husky still sleeping in her crate because a crate is a dogs safe space. So may reason to keep a dog comfortable with crate use for their whole life.

Mine didn’t loose his until he was 5 years old. Not because he didn’t deserve but because it was his favorite safe spot. And now he still goes to the same exact spot where it was to sleep.

Hello :
You’re brave! My (almost) 9 month lab doesn’t destroy things when she’s out the crate but I would NOT trust her to not be in it yet.

My girl is seven months and we don’t trust her out of the crate alone for a few hours. She’s getting there, just not there yet.

Dog is 9 and his crate is still up. He goes in and out as he wants. It’s his safe spot.

Too many negative comments. You know your dog you do what's right. We've just done same with our and she's amazing
