@maia_shops: Imagine hiking through an isolated mountain landscape in northern Italy and suddenly seeing what looks like the body of a gigantic pink rabbit stretched across the hillside. This was Hase, an enormous art installation placed on Colletto Fava in Italy in 2005 by the art collective Gelitin. The rabbit measured roughly 60 meters (200 feet) long and stood around 6 meters (20 feet) thick—large enough that the people walking beside it looked almost microscopic. But the strangest part was its appearance. The rabbit was deliberately created lying on its back with its limbs spread across the mountain and its side torn open, with oversized fabric “organs” spilling onto the ground. Visitors were actually encouraged to climb across its body, walk along its enormous limbs, and lie on its stomach. And it wasn’t designed to stay beautiful. It was left completely exposed to rain, snow, animals and decay. Over the following years, its bright pink body faded, tore apart and slowly decomposed into the mountain. By around 2016, most of the giant rabbit had deteriorated. For years, though, anyone approaching the mountain from a distance could look across the landscape and see something deeply unnatural: A 200-foot pink creature lying motionless on the mountainside… slowly rotting away. #fyp
