Can you share how to implement the check for understanding?! My son has comprehension issues and I’m currently fighting to make sure this is done but didn’t have the knowledge or guidance as to what to request.

my son has had that accomodation and 0% of his teachers do it..they say they do it as a whole with the class and they cant possibly check in with him 1:1 for every assignment.

That’s on my sons plan and no teacher does it. They say “if he comes to me I will “ 😑

therapist here- what happends if a teacher checks for understanding and the student continues to endorse lack of understanding, is there a follow up accommodation ? if its chronic they will recommend lower level class but if its occasional its often just a 0 in their grade book unless they stay after school etc

i have adhd. sit me in the front, gimme extra time, dont put me anywhere near my friends, let me have my monster, if sometimes i as a high performing student cant even talk — let me be. it. i don’t want anyone burning out lol😞

They did evaluation on him. He has an ard even though he’s diagnosed with dyslexia and Mental delay from a specialist. The School told me that being diagnosed for medical to educational is totally different that they couldn’t give him accommodations for those issues.

Is there such a thing as quiet ADHD? I’ve asked for deeper assessments and results are below average student that doesn’t meet the requirements for extra support. Executive functioning/comprehension is a concern.

I had my sons Iep set up for high school to be I special classes 15 to 1 . He came from middle school from a 12 to 1 class they did not go by his iep in two classes in high school they put him in an ict class now they want to have an iep meeting to make changes I never agreed to the ict class because we tried that it did not work out because he could not keep up with the work. My son wants nothing to due with school after he comes up he wants nothing to do with homework.

How does a IEP is it different at a High School from an IEP at elementary and middle school. My son has different disabilities after cancer treatment and brain tumor removal 9 years ago .

My son was denied extended time for the SAT test. He’s a sophomore. I’m trying to get his doctor to write a letter what language should be entered in that letter to make sure he receives it. The school says sometimes they get it and sometimes they don’t but they don’t explained why they got denied so I guess it’s a guessing game but I feel that extended time is so important. He gets very anxious when you talk about time clocks.

Our school only gives extra time for work. They would never execute what you are presenting sadly. I have tried over and over to get the schools to help.
