In this video, I show a short and practical overview of the clutch replacement process on the Volkswagen Group DSG7 DQ200 0AM dual-clutch transmission with dry clutches. • The DQ200 0AM is a very common transmission, but it also has several well-known problems. These can include clutch wear, dual-mass flywheel wear, juddering when taking off, vibrations, clutch slipping, adaptation problems, fault codes and mechatronic-related issues. • When the clutch becomes worn, the vehicle may start to judder during take-off, vibrate, slip, rev without corresponding acceleration, or develop clutch adaptation and engagement problems. • In this case, we are replacing the complete DQ200 0AM clutch assembly, but the repair does not stop there. Since the clutch is already removed, this is the perfect opportunity to service several components that are otherwise difficult to access. • We install new seals for both transmission input shafts and replace the sealing elements on the clutch fork actuator shafts. • Another critical part of a proper DQ200 clutch replacement is correct clutch adjustment. The transmission uses specific adjustment shims for the clutch release bearings, and the correct shim thickness must be selected according to the actual dimensions of the installed components. • Using incorrect adjustment shims can result in incorrect clutch positioning and improper clutch operation.
