@wholeheartedkitche: We planted this apple tree six years ago, and until this year, we had never harvested more than about five apples. This year, we finally picked an entire box, enough to make applesauce from our own tree! 🍎 I left the skins on for their natural pectin, cooked the tart apples with lemon juice and organic cane sugar, and saved the cores for apple scrap vinegar. After blending, I ran everything through the food mill because my daughter only accepts perfectly smooth applesauce. 😂 Six years of waiting, and our first homegrown batch is officially preserved for the pantry.
